By The Numbers: Week 5, 2017

I wasn’t expecting too much of a challenge in the Bears. It was a short week for the Pack, having played on Sunday and then having to turn around quickly to play again on Thursday, but knowing we were playing the Bears I wasn’t worried. For some reason Chicago was still starting Mike Glennon, who for a journeyman backup isn’t all that great. Why the Bears would trade up for Trubisky just to keep him as the backup I don’t know, but they did make the decision to start him this week so good on them. Maybe by the time we have our second game vs. them he’ll be acclimated. Regardless, our defense held them to two touchdowns while producing turnovers and the offense put points on the board consistently in the 35-14 stomping. Let’s see how I did with my other picks last week.

Packers 30, Bears 20 – Correct
Saints 27, Dolphins 20 – Correct
Titans 24, Texans 10
Jags 24, Jets 10
Patriots 30, Panthers 24
Lions 21, Vikings 13 – Correct
Bills 27, Falcons 23 – Correct
Steelers 24, Ravens 17 – Correct
Bengals 20, Browns 6 – Correct
Cowboys 28, Rams 21
Eagles 31, Chargers 17 – Correct
Buccs 27, Giants 21 – Correct
Cardinals 24, 49ers 14 – Correct
Raiders 26, Broncos 24
Seahawks 19, Colts 13 – Correct
Chiefs 32, Redskins 17 – Correct

So 11 correct picks and 5 that were incorrect. A marked improvement over last week for sure, but still not a perfect prediction. Let’s see how much better I can do this week. With the Packers facing off against the Cowboys, I expect more of a close game this weekend, but I do still expect that the Pack will be able to close this one out. Starting the season at 4-1 would be one of the better starts we’ve had in a few years. Usually by now we’re 2-2 or so and we have to fight through the rest of the season to make the playoffs. I would love to see the team continue to win and only drop another couple to be in a good position in the post season. Our early exits have been frustrating in recent years.

Patriots 31, Buccs 27
Jets 20, Browns 7
Panthers 30, Lions 24
Colts 21, 49ers 13
Titans 23, Dolphins 17
Bills 24, Bengals 13
Giants 21, Chargers 10
Steelers 28, Jags 21
Cardinals 24, Eagles 20
Rams 27, Seahawks 20
Raiders 23, Ravens 21
Packers 31, Cowboys 20
Chiefs 27, Texans 14
Vikings 21, Bears 13

Let’s see how it goes. I’m ready for some football.
