By The Numbers: Week 7, 2016

Trouble is brewing in Titletown again. Like the 2013 season, a division rival managed to put a hit on Aaron Rodgers, breaking his collarbone. Last time it was the Bears, and Rodgers returned in week 17 to beat them to win the division and head to the playoffs. I think we were one and done that year, but it was still amazing to come out on top after missing the league’s best QB for 7 1/2 weeks. This time around it’s unclear if the same sort of story book ending will repeat itself. We’re heading into week 7, so there still is a chance that Rodgers comes back at the end of the season, or even the playoffs, given a decent performance from our backup QB, Brett Hundley. Supposedly he was good at UCLA. Supposedly he put up big numbers in the preseason. Being thrust into the starting role in the 1st quarter of last week’s game, his first pass was an interception, and I didn’t really see much of anything that I liked. I’m skeptical, but I still support my team. This week the Pack faces the Saints, who are looking pretty hot right now, and Brees isn’t a QB you can write off easily. We have a bye week afterwards, and then the final stretch has some challenges and some games I’d say we’d win automatically were Rodgers in the lineup. I’ll still be watching games for the remainder of the season but my enthusiasm has waned a bit, for obvious reasons. Let’s see how I did last week:

Eagles 27, Panthers 24 – Correct
Ravens 20, Bears 10
Texans 21, Browns 7 – Correct
Packers 30, Vikings 21
Lions 35, Saints 31 – Correct
Falcons 31, Dolphins 20
Patriots 28, Jets 14 – Correct
Redskins 27, 49ers 9 – Correct
Buccs 24, Cardinals 20
Rams 23, Jags 20 – Correct
Chiefs 31, Steelers 20
Raiders 24, Chargers 20
Broncos 36, Giants 10
Titans 23, Colts 21 – Correct

Split it right down the middle, at 7/7. Who knows what the fuck is going on with the league right now. Teams I thought would be good are shit and teams that are usually shit are doing alright. It’s hard to make these picks, and sometimes I make outlandish ones and get them right, and sometimes the gimmie picks are wrong. Oh well, here’s my picks for week 7:

Chiefs 42, Raiders 27
Buccs 28, Bills 21
Ravens 21, Vikings 14
Jets 10, Dolphins 9
Rams 27, Cardinals 17
Colts 21, Jags 19
Packers 20, Saints 17
Panthers 30, Bears 10
Titans 32, Browns 7
Cowboys 27, 49ers 13
Broncos 30, Chargers 24
Steelers 24, Bengals 21
Giants 20, Seahawks 17
Patriots 28, Falcons 24

We’ll see how it goes. Honestly a little down on football after such a great start to the season. Injuries are fucked up, man.
